The Pacific Regional Science Conference Organisation (PRSCO) was established at the 7th Annual Meeting of the Western Regional Science Association (WRSA) in San Diego, February 1-4, 1968 at the initiative of representatives from WRSA and the Japan Section of the Regional Science Association (JSRSA). The PRSCO is one of the 3 supra-regional associations of RSAI (Regional Science Association International) which is founded in 1954. The PRSCO enhances and facilitates exchange of research information in the field of regional science among members of Membership Sections of the PRSCO, as well as the exchange of this information in the Pacific Rim area between such members and other persons with an interest in regional science.
Chinese Regional Science Association – Taiwan was established in 1984, and successfully organized the 1995 Pacific Conference at Academic Sinica (Taipei). We are glad to take the responsibility of organizing the 2017 PRSCO conference, which is held on May 17-20, 2017 at National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan.
NCKU is one of the leading and oldest national universities in Taiwan, and comprises 9 colleges and 41 departments and institutes, with about 23,000 students and faculty. NCKU has become an active participant in global academia and has earned an excellent reputation in teaching and research. For example, NCKU has ranked the 256th in 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities announced by Shanghai Jiaotong University and the 80th in 2011 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities published by Centre for Scientific Information and Documentation, Spain, only second to that of NTU, Tokyo University and Kyoto University in the Asian region.
